We have used this in our homeschool and love these stories. Reading this every year will become a Thanksgiving tradition for us.
I bought this book for use with a homeschool curriculum Trail Guide by Geography Matters. The curriculum references questions which should be in the book. Apparently this edition does not have the review questions in it. Doesn't affect the story at all, but you need a different edition of you are trying to coordinate this with Trail Guide.
We love this story! It was so nice to listen to and learn more about the pilgrims story.
This is a great book! We enjoy reading it in November leading up to Thanksgiving
love love love great for November, my kids are soon to be 5, soon to be 3 and 1.
My father read this book to us when we were young and I read it to my children in November. Pumphrey recounts the persecution that causedthe pilgrims to leave their homes and they're struggles settling in a new land. Her narrative style makes it an easy read with excitement enough to keep the attention of a five year old boy. Significantly, Pumphrey penned this book before post-modern revisionists wiped the moral motives of men from the history books. Enjoy!
This book is a treasure to help your kids know how our country started. We read it aloud for several years when our kids were in elementary school. I recently bought it to share with a young family who does read aloud.
