I Dream of Zombies eBook Vickie Johnstone

When I learned indie author Vickie Johnstone had jumped clear out of her comfort zone to write a book about zombies overrunning London, I was intrigued to the point of stepping outside my own comfort zone. I have very much enjoyed Vickie's other work and felt compelled to investigate how her talents would fare against the horror/thriller genre.

In that regard, I must say, SUCCESS! There is enough fright and gore in I DREAM OF ZOMBIES to keep the most enthusiastic fan of the zombie genre engaged, and yet there is a human story woven into the book, a story of loving sisters, loyal friends, and characters whose sense of duty often overcomes their sense of self-preservation. Marla, Vickie's main character, is an admirable woman, steadfast in her determination to get her sister Ellen, her friend Tommy, and Tommy's lovable Labrador Retriever Bob, safely out of London to a safe haven in the countryside. In their quest to find that safe haven, Marla and her companions come across the good, the bad, and far-too-many-for-comfort of the not exactly dead, and learn that not all of the monsters are those that have been changed.

I Dream of Zombies is full of suspense, surprises, and some lighter moments. And leaves the reader wanting to know, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!? Vickie Johnston has not only penned a great read about zombies, she has changed this reader into a zombie fan.

I Dream of Zombies eBook Vickie Johnstone Reviews

This book had me at Hello. Its a great read and I really enjoyed the characters and their complexities. It was nice to see a new twist on zombies. As a lover of zombie stories and horror stories this one definately has all the right ingredients for a fantastic tale. Get ready for the best roller coaster ride of your life! Cudo's to Vickie!
I enjoyed this book. It was different. The characters where strongly detailed and the story line was solid. I grew up in the UK so it is nice to read books that are set there.
This book might not be for everyone, it is not all action but a very good read. Not lots of gore, which I did miss. But good descriptions of surviving the living dead
This was a great story! I have to say though that were sections of it that had me yelling at the characters like you do when you're watching some of those B horror movies. "Hey, don't go over and look at the bad to guy to make sure he's dead! Just run!" When they were on the bus was one such time. Made me smile. All in all this is an awesome story that will suck you in and have you running and hiding with the main characters. I will definitely buy the next book in the series. Bravo, Vickie Johnstone, Bravo!
As a general rule, I am not a fan of anything zombie. I don't watch the TV shows or movies or read any apocalyptic type of books. I broke my anti-zombie mind-set when I read some of the favorable comments on this book and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did, I Dream of Zombies is a good book and the best part, it didn't give me any nightmares. (That's one of the reasons I stay away from scary books and movies.)

I am familiar with Vickie Johnstone's other books and I know what a fine author she is. As always, the characters are well developed and the story is very well written. I could visualize the scenes as I read them and was unable to put the book down at times. As a matter of fact, I was so impressed, I think I'll buy book two in the series.
I am not usually a fan of zombie books or movies. I have to admit this one seems different. The premise of a population suddenly having the same horrific dreams is intriguing. This is what propels the main character into action once she hears her sister is also dreaming and then she herself starts to have the same dream. It is difficult to convince the other people who aren't dreaming; but she gets her point across. The way the characters band together and make a decision to leave the populated areas shows they recognize the looming threat. The descriptions of the zombie attacks, while graphic, underline just how serious the threat is and how fast it moves from person to person. I don't want to give away anything; let's just say they have a journey to make.
Ms. Johnstone can write. I was pulled into the book from the first paragraph. The angle of some people sharing the same nightmare dream simultaneously but not everyone is intriguing. I think describing the nightmare hooked into my long forgotten childhood nightmare which woke up mom who had to wake me up before I was old enough to wake up on my own. One of the characters woke up in the middle of the night and had to wake her sister up from her nightmare. At the time I read that I wasn't thinking about what I just wrote. The story is set in England instead of the US which I enjoyed. I will buy the next book because I want know what will happen them
A nice story of a terrible virus which not only turns those infected into walking dead, but causes some to dream of the hellish creatures.

Two sisters must overcome many obstacles to lead a group of refugees to safety. They have one good friend and together they fight and befriend several along the way

A well thought out and written story that shows the importance of family whether blood or through friendship. So good character development. Caring for other people without any hope of reward other than making that person safe

Towards the end of the book the pages became all mixed up. I kept going back and forth and eventually the pages corrected themselves. I have had this happen with other books...not sure what causes it.

I would recommend for zombie book lovers who don't mind a series. This is only book one of I do not know of how many.
